Warning This product is in active development/beta. I’ll try to fix things as I go, but updates aren’t promised on any specific schedule. I am releasing this now because it works for me and maybe for you. All known glitches are shown in the video (tested on Unity 2021 and MVN 2024.2)  ONLY BUY IF YOU UNDERSTAND THIS.

What Does This Plugin Do?

It streams data from Xsens MVN to Unity3D

So in short:

  • This app allows you to pipe Xsens MVN data into Unity.
  • Then you can record, export an FBX, or go full-on VTuber with live streaming.

What It’s NOT:

  • An exploit for MVN. (I’m not trying to get sued) You’re still on the free plan, so you’ll still have whatever limitations that entails.
  • A native recorder that exports FBXs directly from MVN. (for now)

Current Issues

Look, MVN’s code is older than some of you reading this—and it’s not exactly commented well. Then add Unity’s random quirks, and there were bound to be some issues at first.

  1. Inconsistent SyncingUnity bones sometimes mismatch MVN bones. You might have to refresh MVN for it to remember what it’s doing. After that, it’s usually good.
  2. Gloveless Capture Quirks If you’re not using Xsens-approved gloves, the fingers will have a predefined identity tied to them, this causes strange hand rotations at times

AS OF WRITING, BOTH ISSUES APPEAR TO BE SOLVED IN V2 OF HTE APP.

How to Install

  1. Drop the plugin into your MVN plugin folder.
  2. Edit ogre_plugin.cfg with this line:

    Plugin=BipedStreamerPlugin
  3. Right-click the MVN .exe, go to PropertiesCompatibility → run as Administrator
  4. Profit(?)

Future Plans

  • Add Maya streaming.
  • Add Blender streaming.
  • Fix the desync between Unity and MVN.
  • Fix gloveless hand rotations so you stop giving the floor a half-baked handshake.

Will this work with older versions of MVN? I have 2023

Also... any chance for UE support plans

useless ,duseless ,dont have mvn record software ont have mvn record software

So it does work for ue. But needs tweaks. Like rotations

I'm keen to download this but am coming from a slightly different angle and wonder if your plugin will work for my application, I don't have much experience with Unity - what data is streamed to unity? Is it the various joint angle data? Thanks.

sorry for the delay. I don't get notified of comments. bone position and rotation data is streamed from mvn, to unity. if it's animated in mvn, it's animated in unity

Will it work for Unity vtuber applications, such as VNyan or Warudo?

no clue :)

I put my $100 in. Believe in you, looking forward to Blender version.

Will this eventually be available for Iclone?

i'm only a little familiar with iClone. if it has an API I can look into it.

(1 edit) (+1)

iClone has an API, specifically called the "iClone Python API" which allows users to extend and customize iClone functionalities by writing Python scripts to interact with the software at a low level, enabling custom plugin development and advanced automation features.

My hope is still alive then. Thank you my friend!

IClone would be soooo useful!!! ... and UE would be great also!

Wow, thank you so much for this, you are amazing! This is so enabling as an indie artist who spent 15k on a solution that was sold on a much lower subscription price at 250/month back then compared to 1k/month currently . I would love to see a Blender version of this too :))

It's on the to-do list for sure!
